What we do
Bel Nordique reviews games to play with other people, for players and families in the UK. We only write about games we have played properly, over several sessions, on one sofa and online. Every review gives a typical sitting, a good place to stop, who can talk to you, what the game costs once you are playing and who it suits.
Why the North?
Some of the best games for playing together come from small and mid-sized studios in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark, and we like the way many of them are made: generous, inventive and rarely pushy. Our shelf starts there. The Swedish word lagom, just the right amount, sums up how we think an evening of games should feel.
Why a console home screen?
Because that is where an evening of games starts, and where it should end too. Our home screen has a Rest mode tile on the shelf and a planner that puts the end of the evening on the list before the first game starts.
Who writes the reviews
A small team of long-time players, from calm puzzle games to team shooters and big shared worlds, alongside parents who try the family controls on each platform we mention.
How the site is funded
Not by anyone in the games business. There are no adverts, affiliate links, sponsored reviews or products. We host no games, run no accounts and take no payments.
Conflicts of interest
If a reviewer has a personal or professional link to a game or studio, someone else reviews it and the review says so. We accept no gifts, trips or early access in exchange for coverage.
The artwork
Every image of a game is an original illustration made for this site in that game’s visual style. None of it is official artwork, a screenshot or a real person. Our logo is our own.
Why UK English?
British spelling, UK age labels and UK support services. No pop-ups, no autoplaying video and no tracking.
